An important part of Jin Shin Jyutsu Physio-philosophy is the Getting to Know and Help Myself. As Mary Burmeister says “We need never know FATiGUE. Energy can never TIRE. It is our PERSONAL imbalance that causes FATIGUE. Through Jin Shin Jyutsu our awareness is awakened to the simple fact that all that is needed for harmony and balance physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually is within Myself". The Self Help Classes utilise the materials from Mary Burmeister’s 3 Self Help Textbooks. Participants learn simple sequences and finger holds that if used daily will help eliminate stress, tension, fatigue, and bodily discomforts. One of the sequences taught at the self help class is how to use our fingers
Holding the thumb helps relieve worry and anxiety.
Holding the index finger helps relieve our fears.
Holding the middle finger helps anger and frustration melt away.
Holding the ring finger helps overcome grief and sadness.
Holding the little finger helps with the attitude of "trying to" or "pretence".
